Pickaway County was founded on March 1, 1810, and was named for the Native American word Piqua, which means “man risen from ashes.”
Circleville is the county seat and the county has a population of 55,698 people. Pickaway County is well known for its yearly Circleville Pumpkin Show, where over 100,000 pumpkin doughnuts are enjoyed by visitors from 34 states and 13 foreign countries.
