Today, the United States Senate passed a bill (H.R. 1900) introduced by Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH), Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (D-OH), and former Congressman Pat Tiberi to designate the new museum and memorial being built in downtown Columbus as the “National Veterans Memorial and Museum.” The bill was previously passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in November, which means it now heads to the president’s desk to be signed into law. This week, Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH) recognized Clinton-Massie High School student Sarah Karns as the winner in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District Art Competition for her piece “Me and My Pets.” The announcement was made at a reception at the Columbus Museum of Art on Wednesday evening. Karns will receive a trip to Washington, D.C. to see her artwork displayed in the halls of the U.S. Capitol building and attend a reception with other winners from across the country. Last year, Karns’ piece, untitled, won third place in this competition.
