A bill to create a Place of Remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery as a final resting place for unknown veterans’ remains from every future military conflict has passed the House.
The bill, introduced by Rep. Steve Stivers, R-Upper Arlington, is a response to news stories last year on the Dover Air Force Base mortuary sending veterans’ remains to the Prince George Landfill. Stivers introduced the bill to create a memorial for the remains of those who served “so a travesty like this can never occur again.”
