Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH) this week presented an “I Hire Vets” Award to Company Wrench.  Through his “I Hire Vets” Program, Congressman Stivers recognizes companies throughout Ohio’s 15th Congressional District who make hiring veterans a priority.

“I would like to thank Company Wrench for their outstanding efforts in hiring veterans,” Stivers said. “Veterans are well-trained, and they make great employees in the private sector. As a nation, we should be doing more to help our veterans return to work when they leave the military, which is why it is so important to recognize companies, like Company Wrench, who make hiring veterans a priority.”

Company Wrench, is an Ohio-based company focusing on the manufacturing, sales, rentals, parts and service of scrap, demolition, and construction equipment. Headquartered in Carroll, Ohio, Company Wrench operates in 13 locations across the US.  Approximately 10 percent of the employees at Company Wrench are veterans.

The unemployment rate for returning veterans remains high.  Currently, the jobless rate for post 9/11 veterans stands at around 10 percent, which is higher than the seven percent unemployment rate facing the general public today.

According to recent reports, there are between 240,000 and 360,000 service members leaving military service every year and this has become an even more pressing issue as troops have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan.
