Rep. Stivers Statement on the Creation of the “Active Shooter” Video Game
“As a father, I want to ensure the safety of our kids as we send them to school. Games like this are disgraceful, and counterproductive to keeping our schools safe.
Regarding the creation of the “Active Shooter” video game, the following can be attributed to Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH): “As a father, I want to ensure the safety of our kids as we send them to school. Games like this are disgraceful, and counterproductive to keeping our schools safe. “I believe Congress should consider establishing consequences for creators of games that celebrate violence and school shootings (which could encourage future shooters). If players later go on to commit acts of violence, creators should be held legally liable. While I am a firm supporter of the First Amendment and free speech, that right should not protect people from the consequences of their speech.” -30- |
