Dear Neighbor,
There are a number of challenges currently facing our nation – first and foremost the need to create jobs so that the people of Ohio and our nation can move forward. From my many local stops and meetings throughout Franklin, Madison, and Union counties, it is clear that both individuals and businesses need more certainty and government restraint when it comes to health care costs, energy costs, tax levels, and regulation.
We need to allow local employers to spend their time and resources on hiring and growing their business. Government does not create all the jobs we need. Businesses can, and will, with the right incentives.
The innovation will be there if we give business owners the flexibility they need to invest back into the company and allow them to keep more of their own money. We need to focus on getting businesses back on their feet so they can create jobs and help put Ohioans back to work.

MY RECORD ON JOBS:
Overturn 1099 Reporting Section of the Health Care Law
I supported and worked to remove the 1099 reporting requirement of last year’s health care law that burdened business with filing a receipt with the IRS for every expense over $600.
Reduce Unnecessary Taxes and Regulations on Businesses
Congress needs to do away with the job-destroying restrictions that have been placed on our small businesses. It is our small businesses that create the majority of the jobs across the country. We must support efforts to help small businesses grow and create
jobs, not put our job creators on life support. Congress also needs to lower the corporate tax rates to remain competitive in the world economy.
Cut Spending in Washington
Our country is on an unsustainable path of reckless government spending. I voted to cut $6.2 trillion in government spending and reduce deficits by $4.2 trillion over the next decade, compared to the Administration's budget. I voted to prevent $29.9 billion of TARP funding from being spent, and voted against a national energy tax.
Hosted Jobs Forum at OSU Fisher College of Business
I hosted a Jobs Forum at The Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. The Forum was moderated by Dean Christine A. Poon from Fisher. The forum provided Central Ohio business leaders the opportunity to promote partnerships, share innovative ideas, and offer perspectives on issues facing Congress that impact day-to-day business operations. Several good ideas that will help create jobs in Central Ohio came out of the forum and I look forward to working on these issues in the months to come.
