The American people deserve health care that is affordable, reliable, and allows them to keep the doctor and insurance they like. Unfortunately, that is not what we are seeing as the new health care law is being implemented.
Since the Obamacare website went live, there have been nothing but glitches and troubles surrounding this new system. In fact, only 1,150 Ohioans signed up in the first month. While I don’t support Obamacare, it should have been an obligation and priority for the Administration to be honest about the law from day one - from the issues with the website to the cancellation notices that 3.5 million Americans have received from their insurance companies.
I believe that we must work to replace the health care law moving forward, but we must also act now to ensure Americans can keep the health insurance plans they are happy with - it is what was promised to us. That is why I recently voted in support of the “Keep Your Health Plan Act.” This bill would allow Americans to keep their health insurance plans that are currently available on the individual market.
In my opinion, the largest problem with health care today is cost. We need to introduce common-sense reforms that will actually lower costs, such as: tort reform, providing flexibility by expanding health savings accounts, and promoting healthier lifestyle choices.
